MINUTE.

  1. I am directed to request you to inform the Commissioners of Customs and Excise that the Govt. of Hong Kong is taking part in the British Empire Exhibition and that certain exhibits are on the way to this country, consigned through Messrs. J.D. Hewett and Co., Ltd., of 101, Leadenhall Street, E.C.3.
  1. As it is important that as little difficulty as possible should be placed in the way of the Colonial Govt., Mr. Thomas would be glad if the Commissioners could see their way to directing that all possible facilities be granted for the clearance of such goods as are consigned to the Govt. of Hong Kong for the Exhibition, where they will be accommodated during the Exhibition.
  1. M.E.R. Hallifax, C.B.E., Secretary for Chinese Affairs to the Govt. of Hong Kong, is in England for the purpose of supervising matters connected with that exhibit.

Any communications on the subject addressed to him can be conveyed to this Office.
